The Norfolk Boat (Sail Training) Ltd

We are proud to be associated with Norfolk Boat, who kindly provide financial support to many of our young people so that they might enjoy the Excelsior experience.

The Norfolk Boat charity helps the young and disabled of Norfolk to experience the challenge of off-shore sailing. The charity does not cover the whole cost of the voyage, instead it encourages the participants to fundraise as much as possible for themselves, and offers help in identifying other fundraising opportunities.

Each crew member plays an active part in sailing the boat, including steering, handling sails, keeping a look-out, helping to navigate and cleaning, cooking and washing up too.

If you are aged between 12 and 24 years or disabled of any age and you live in Norfolk or the surrounding area you can apply for funding. Whilst everyone is expected and encouraged to raise as much money as possible themselves, the charity has never turned anyone away.

If you are interested in participating in a voyage, if you need a grant or if you wish to give money to the charity contact Alex Bartram on 01603 880579 or visit our website at .

The charity uses a number of sailing organisations whose boats sail around the UK coast, across to the continent and further afield. Voyages vary in length from two days to two weeks and generally take place between March and October. Every boat has a professionally trained crew and all the sailing organisations we use are members of ASTO (Association of Sail Training Organisations).
