Refurbishment of a ship such as Excelsior is an ongoing process and will be for the rest of her sea-going life. To offset some
of this cost and to enable the Trust to sustain its crew for 2017 we ask for support from charitable trusts, foundations and individuals will continue to help us to fulfil our mandate in transforming young people’s lives at sea.

I support the Excelsior Trust because the Excelsior is a living breathing beauty – who is a link to my hometowns fishing heritage. She brings history to life and with my Great Grandad being a skipper of a boat just like the Excelsior, I was so moved when I was aboard – I felt like I wanted to be there with him, with the crew…. she is just brilliant! 🙂
Fabulous trust to support giving children increased confidence and a fantastic experience. Would love my son to be able to bring his dad along for a days sailing ????
Having spent many weeks on Excelsior with 2 Tall Ships races when I was a youngster (23 years ago). Sails like a dream, and weathers storms well (We got caught in a F11 coming across the Bay of Biscay!) giving youngsters a chance to experience sailing on a historic boat can’t be beaten.
I support the Excelsior Trust in its aim to preserve and maintain the historical wooden working vessel the Excelsior. Once a fishing smack of the Lowestoft fishing fleet, the Excelsior is woven into the history of the fishing industry along the East Anglian coastline and so many people benefit from the chance to be able to see her still in operation today. Also I really like how the unique opportunity to sail Excelsior is aimed particularly at young and disadvantaged people . The experience of learning to sail her is likely to be an unforgettable experience for so many, teaching additional skills such as team building and through the adventure broadening horizons that may help to set the path for their futures.
She is a beautiful old girl , that I’ve been lucky enough to sail on many moons ago ( with Stewie, Claire & Bill ) I met John Wilson who restored her when she was in Rye , years ago. We had an impromptu fundraiser on board with folk music and the following year a mini music evening on the quay , we raised £4000 plus for the trust…. I did the scumble glazing on her top deck when she was out of the water in the winter …wow was that cold. She is a wonderful charity enabling people from all walks of life and abilities to sail….magic.
I support Excelsior because of the opportunity she gave me over 20 years ago! It’s fabulous to see she is still giving so many other young people the opportunity I was lucky enough to have all those years ago. It’s an experience that I have never forgotten, and always take the liberty to tell anyone who will listen to me about it!! I would love the chance to re live my youth!!!⛵️
I Support Excelsior because Excelsior supports the Community! Giving amazing opportunities and experiences to young and old from all over the world! The Crew are always so friendly and welcoming transferring their skills helping create the new generation of traditional sailors! I’d love the chance to have a proper day sail up the Orwell! ????
Great ship, giving many people a chance to change their lives.
I’d like Excelsior even if she didn’t live almost at the end of my back garden.
A lovely bunch of people, with a lovely sailing vessel!
