HOW TO GET INVOLVED
If you’re interested in getting involved with the trust, we will be happy to speak with you. We are always open to accepting new volunteers, and if you’re simply looking to make a donation, those are greatly appreciated as well; we can’t wait to hear from you!
YOUR STORIES
The history of sailing fishing vessels is part of many people’s family history. Does your family have a link to the days of fishing under sail? Please share with us your stories and pictures.
VOLUNTEER
Each year from November to early April, Excelsior undergoes a winter refit and maintenance. Excelsior needs volunteers to help maintain the ship and keep her sailing. Whether you have never worked on a boat or have lots of practical skills, we would love to hear from you.
Technical Volunteer
We are seeking a technically skilled volunteer or community partner who would be willing to support us with the setup, deployment, and early-stage use of the Microsoft 365 platform. We anticipate this support would involve a few hours per week over a 2–3 month period, and would ideally suit someone looking to make a meaningful community contribution—perhaps as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative or community engagement programme.
Legal Trustee
Join Us as a Legal Trustee – Help Steer the Excelsior Trust Forward
The Excelsior Trust is seeking a volunteer Legal Trustee to join our Board and help guide our charity through the next exciting stage of its development. We’re looking for someone with a background in law—ideally with experience in charity, company, or employment law—who can provide sound legal oversight, support good governance, and advise on regulatory matters affecting our work.
As a Trustee, you’ll play a vital role in preserving and promoting the Trust’s mission: delivering transformative sailing experiences and heritage training for young people and disadvantaged individuals aboard the historic sailing vessel Excelsior. A commitment to community values is essential, and an interest in heritage, youth development, or traditional sailing would be warmly welcomed.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a nationally significant charity while helping to protect its legacy and shape its future.
Interested? We’d love to hear from you. Please contact us at ChairmanOffice3089@gmail.com for an informal conversation.
