Departing Lowestoft you will exit the harbour aboard Excelsior with an experienced crew, including a skipper who makes his living in the offshore industry. You will hear the radio traffic and cruise slowly out to sea passing the Seagull's new home a few meters off Pakefield beach. Heading South, you will travel along the Suffolk coast spotting many landmarks along the way. The East coast windfarms, invisible from the shore will come into view and you will most likely see the support vessels running to and from the accommodation platforms. Heading further south you will approach the Orwell estuary and up the river to Ipswich, passing the UK's biggest container port at Felixstowe. Mooring in Ipswich a few hundred yards from the Railway station for your journey back by train, not as interesting as your outbound journey but you will have plenty to talk about with your crewmates.
