Help us find our next...

Non Exec Chair - The Excelsior Trust

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to take the trust forward and help drive an ambitious plan and lottery bid.

After many years of exceptional service, our long-standing Chairman Jamie Campbell has chosen to step down from his role. Jamie’s contribution to the Excelsior Trust has been nothing short of transformative. His steady leadership, unfailing commitment, and deep belief in the importance of maritime heritage have guided the Trust through challenging times and positioned Excelsior as one of the region’s most significant vessels of cultural value. We extend our sincere thanks for his dedication, wisdom, and stewardship.

With this transition, the Trust now begins the search for a new Non-Executive Chairman—a figurehead capable of leading us into an ambitious new phase of development.

The Trust is entering a period of major renewal: strengthening our governance, expanding our training programmes, advancing our National Lottery bid, and developing the Excelsior Heritage Centre as a national hub for traditional maritime skills and digital heritage.

We are looking for a Chair who brings influence, insight, and a strategic mindset—someone who can champion our mission, support the CEO and Board, and help us build long-term resilience.

The ideal candidate will combine leadership experience with a passion for heritage and community impact. They will understand the responsibilities of guiding a charity with national significance and will be comfortable operating at the interface of strategy, fundraising, partnerships, and good governance.

If you know someone whose values and expertise align with this next chapter, we would welcome your recommendations. All expressions of interest or suggestions will be treated in strict confidence.
