About your trip: Overnight one-way taster sail May Bank Holiday Special 4th-5th May  Join Excelsior for a start of season bank holiday adventure. Come on board early Saturday morning for a briefing and familiarisation with the boat, then set off for an exciting overnight adventure north. This is a non-stop voyage round the coast of East Anglia to Grimsby, the north east's first port, for those who are looking for an introduction to a more challenging sailing experience. Expect colder weather, wild seas, and some serious team spirit. Age 15+ (open to young people and adults)

About your destination:

Have you ever wanted to see what night sailing on Excelsior is like, but aren't able to commit to a longer adventure? This is your perfect opportunity to take advantage of our early season offer. Before we set out, we'll give you a thorough briefing on what to expect and how to operate the rig. You'll be divided into your watches, and each team will be responsible for a 4-hour shift sailing the vessel (helming, navigating, and managing the sail plan), as well as preparing a meal for the rest of the crew, and keeping Excelsior shipshape.

The East Anglian coast presents us with challenges such as strong tides, sand banks and wind farms - an excellent training ground for really getting to understand some of the technicalities of navigation, and of course the whims of the natural environment.

Your destination is Grimsby in Lincolnshire, a working fishing port dominated by a spectacular tower from the 1850s. Here you can find historic docks and a rich heritage dating back to the Norse invasions. Want to find out more about the fishing heritage on arrival? (You've just shown up in style on a historic fishing trawler, after all) Grimsby boasts a fascinating Fishing Heritage Centre, well worth a visit (open on the Bank Holiday).

All meals on board are provided, but please let us know of any dietary restrictions in good time so that we can prepare. You'll need to bring with you plenty of warm clothes (including gloves and a hat and wellies, although we can provide some wet weather gear), and a sleeping bag and pillow-case. A full kit list will be issued before the trip.
