GROUP VOYAGES
Excelsior was commissioned as a Sail Training Vessel back in 1988 and since then she has enabled over 11,000 young people to experience the exhilaration of sail power. Voyages help young people to develop their interpersonal skills and offer them life changing opportunities.
Bring your group on one of our Sailing Days in 2024 for a taste of life at sea. Students will be able to participate in all aspects of sailing this icon of local maritime heritage and learn about what life onboard was like for the men who first sailed Excelsior.

Our Voyages
When it comes to building self-esteem and self-reliance, youth workers have said that they can often achieve more in a week at sea on Excelsior than they could in a month ashore. Through daily watch changes, everyone on board will be required to take part in all the tasks necessary for the safe operation of the ship, ensuring that both the menial work and enjoyable jobs are experienced by all. Domestic duties, such as cooking and cleaning, are also undertaken by the groups on board, providing a comparison between home life and life on ship. Every sail is different, and it is this unpredictability and shared experience that can bring group members together.
Our crew are all experienced at involving young people in activities onboard and we welcome students with autism, mobility issues and other SEN requirements. Not sure about sailing? Come and join us for a morning or afternoon on deck to learn about Excelsior
Groups booking a sailing day will receive a 5% discount based on full capacity of 12 persons.
*Please note that youth group voyages can remain in UK waters if required.
